VNR college students are feared to be washed away by a sudden rise in the Beas River downstream of the Largi project at Taloy Village in the of Kullu and Mandi district.
VNR is a college located at Hyderabad and news from few sources claim that the raise of water was due to the sudden release of water down the stream by the Hydro plant authorities from the dam and the students were caught by surprise when there were busy capturing photos.
According to the reports from Shimla authorities, at least 18 boys and 6 girls were washed away by this and feared to be drowned by the sudden gush of the water. People from the area have blocked the local highway in protest of this incident and claim to take an action against the Dam authorities who released the water with out any intimation.
This incident happened around 6 PM in the evening when the students went for a sight seeing trip. 24 from the group of 38 went missing and the search operation is going and till now no student is recovered or found.
